這是一本色彩鮮豔分明的繪本 主色是 orange 和 blue
Orange 是小狗的地盤 orange dog, orange ball, orange house, orange tree
Blue 是小貓的地盤 blue cat, blue toy mouse, blue house, blue pond
一開始小貓和小貓對立 各住房子一邊
到最後和平共處 交換了處所 (請看照片)
這些是小朋友自己發現的喔!
(老實說 為人師的只光被內容吸引 便將這本繪本入荷了)
孩子們個個都是敏銳的觀察家
誰說閱讀只能讀文字? 欣賞圖片 莞爾一笑 也是一種閱讀呢!
故事的高潮在於"小貓的玩具老鼠掉到池塘裡了，小狗的球彈得太高，卡在樹上"
這時是最佳拋問的時機啦
Teacher: The cat's toy mouse falls to the pond. The dog's ball is stuck in the tree. What can they do?
Evelyn: 請農夫把樹砍掉 (The farmer cut off the tree.)
Bruce: 用棒球棒將球勾下來 (Poke the ball with a baseball bat.)
Luna: 把樹搖一搖 (Shake the tree.)
當然有些孩子早就想到:
貓可以爬樹拿球 (The cat can climb up the tree and get the ball.)
狗可以游泳拿玩具鼠 (The dog can swim across the pond and get the toy mouse.)
和孩子們討論時 我讓他們盡情自由地使用母語表達自己的想法
我則是用英語再闡釋一次他們的意思
然後請他們用英語再口述一次
其實孩子們都認識這些字彙 (cat, dog, climb, swim, ball, toy mouse)
只是不知如何說出完整句
當然 這個工作就交給樂於看到學生開口說英語的老師啦
